This broad definition of attendance / delivery mode permits usage across the education and training sector.
Each term is mutually exclusive.
Not known: The provider has not supplied venue information.
Distance with attendance: Distance learning or online learning where attendance (for example for tutorials) is required. Venue information is MANDATORY, but could be ‘venue to be confirmed’ or similar.
Distance without attendance: Distance learning where attendance is not required, except for examinations; this EXCLUDES online with no attendance. Venue information should not be present.
Face-to-face (non-campus): This term is used typically for home tuition, field trips, face-to-face opportunities that take place in hotels or other non-campus environments. Information to describe geographical coverage is MANDATORY.
Location: Campus-based opportunities, excluding those specified as mixed mode; includes sandwich courses. Venue information is MANDATORY, but could be ‘venue to be confirmed’ or similar.
Mixed mode: Attendance on campus and online or other media modes are required. Venue information is MANDATORY, but could be ‘venue to be confirmed’ or similar.
Online (no attendance): Opportunities that are delivered entirely online. Venue information is not required; geographical coverage information is OPTIONAL.
Work-based: Opportunities delivered in the work place. Venue information is not required; geographical coverage information is OPTIONAL.
